MOSCOW. May 10 (Interfax) - The Russian Foreign Ministry has described new U.S. sanctions against Russian defense entities an attempt to "punish" those who were involved in the failure of the recent U.S. missile strike on Syria.
"Washington once again announced additional anti-Russian sanctions. They are formally trying to accuse Russia of breaching a U.S. law prohibiting military-technical cooperation with Iran, North Korea and Syria that has nothing to do with our country. In reality, it is clearly about an ordinary wish to avenge the fiasco of the missile strike against the Syrian Arab Republic conducted by the United States together with the United Kingdom and France in violation of international law on April 14," the Russian Foreign Ministry's information and press department said, commenting on new U.S. sanctions against Russia.
According to the ministry, it is proved by the inclusion of the Gatchina Anti-Aircraft Missile Troops Training Center, the Mozhaysky Aerospace Academy and even the 183rd Guard Surface-to-Air Missile Regiment of the Russian Armed Forces to the U.S. sanctions list.
"Apparently [they are on the list] for good training and instructions provided to Syrian air defense servicemen, who downed the majority of the Western aggressors' missiles," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
