Pacific Fleet missile boat holds artillery fire drills in Sea of Japan

VLADIVOSTOK. May 10 (Interfax) - The Russian Pacific Fleet's R-18 missile boat has held artillery fire drills and destroyed a floating mine in the Sea of Japan.

The crew practiced the solo accomplishment of a naval mission, the fleet's press service said in a statement.

The crew engaged with a surface ship of a simulated enemy and countered an attack by "hostile aircraft."

The R-18 fired artillery weapons at a towed target imitating a surface ship and destroyed a parachuting target in an air defense exercise at a training range, the press service said.

In addition, the crew destroyed a floating mine and practiced ensuring the ship's survivability and helping a person who fell overboard.
