MOSCOW. May 18 (Interfax) - If necessary, Israel will intensify communication channels with Moscow in order to prevent incidents involving Russian servicemen in Syria, Israeli Ambassador to Russia Gary Koren told Interfax.
"We will make every effort to avert the scenario you have mentioned. That's one of the objectives of the existing channels of communication between the Israeli and Russian military," the ambassador said when asked whether it is feared that an incident could occur with Russian troops if Israel strikes Syria's territory again.
Israel "will do all it can to prevent any incident in which a strike could be delivered on an undesignated target [in Syria]," Koren said.
"First, we are very satisfied with the existing communication channels, and if it is necessary to intensify them, we can discuss that with the Russian side. Second, we have said more than once that our sole target in Syria is the Iranian presence," he said.
