JCPOA is not perfect, but it's better than nothing - Merkel

SOCHI. May 18 (Interfax) - The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the Iranian nuclear program is not perfect, but it is better than nothing, German chancellor Angela Merkel said.

"We have spoken about the difficult situation with the U.S. withdrawal from the agreement on the Iranian nuclear program," she told a joint press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday.

"Germany, the UK and France and all our colleagues in the EU back this agreement and we continue observing it in the future," she said.

"This agreement is not perfect, but it is better than no agreement, and therefore it is necessary to continue negotiations on that with Iran," Merkel said.
