Negotiations with Merkel addressed situation with U.S. withdrawal from nuclear deal with Iran - Putin

SOCHI. May 18 (Interfax) - The negotiations with German Chancellor Angela Merkel addressed the situation with the Iranian nuclear deal in the wake of the U.S. withdrawal from it, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"First of all, we exchanged opinions on the situation with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the settlement of the Iranian nuclear program in the wake of the U.S. withdrawal from it," Putin told a press conference in Sochi.

He also said he had exchanged with Merkel opinions "on the aggravated situation in the Middle Eastern region."
