HMEIMIM (Syria). May 21 (Interfax) - Syrian engineering units and sappers trained by Russian specialists have been successfully accomplishing their missions, the head of the Russian center for reconciliation of opposing sides in Syria, Maj. Gen. Yury Yevtushenko, said on Sunday.
"Twenty-three buildings were checked, and three mines, seven shells, and four improvised bombs were defused in Eastern Ghouta and Eastern Qalamoun over the past day alone," Yevtushenko said.
Russian military police are patrolling the populated localities of Yalda, Babbila, and Beit Sahem, he said.
"Attempts at staging provocations and committing crimes are being stopped," Yevtushenko said.
