MOSCOW. May 21 (Interfax) - The United States is unlikely to leave Syria, despite the promises made by President Donald trump, Vitaly Naumkin, academician and director of the Institute of Oriental Studies at the Russian Academy of Science, said.
"The involvement of the global powers in the situation in the Middle East is high, particularly in Syria," he told reporters on the sidelines of the Valdai Discussion Club on Monday.
"Despite the fact that the U.S. says they will leave [Syria], their involvement in this crisis is so high that it does not appear likely that they will leave," he said.
