MOSCOW. May 21 (Interfax-AVN) - The Turbinist trawler has joined the Russian Navy's permanent task force in the Mediterranean Sea, the Black Sea Fleet's spokesperson told Interfax.
"The Black Sea Fleet's Turbinist trawler has begun the deployment as part of the Russian Navy's permanent task force in the Mediterranean Sea," the spokesperson said.
The minesweeper left the base on May 10 and on May 12 crossed the Black Sea straits of Bosporus and Dardanelles, the spokesperson said.
"As part of the permanent task force, the sea trawler held a tactical exercise to remove a mine danger in the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea," the spokesperson said.
Russia's permanent Mediterranean squadron consists of up to 15 warships and support vessels, the Black Sea Fleet said in mid-March.
