Uzbekistan intends to deepen ties with Russia - Defense Minister Azizov

TASHKENT. May 22 (Interfax) - Uzbekistan sees Russia as a country that enjoys authority worldwide and intends to further promote relations with Moscow in all areas, Uzbek Defense Minister Abdusalom Azizov said at talks with Russian Defense Minister Gen. of the Army Sergei Shoigu.

"We see Russia as a country that has authority around the world and in the region. And all of our historical, cultural and economic ties cannot be ignored. I think that we will continue to develop the bonds that exist between our two countries," he said.

He also welcomed Russian-Uzbek cooperation in personnel training, military-technical procurement and the combat training Armed Forces units.
