LPR says saboteurs blew up Shterovka bridge

LUHANSK. May 22 (Interfax) - Saboteurs have disrupted traffic by blowing up a bridge on the 50th kilometer of the road between Krasnyi Luch and Luhansk, the State Security Ministry of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) said in a statement.

"The LPR State Security Ministry is working together with the Interior Ministry to find members of the terrorist group of saboteurs who blew up a bridge on the 50th kilometer of the Krasnyi Luch - Luhansk road last night [on May 21]," the ministry said.

The bomb that blew up the bridge's ferroconcrete pillars was planted at an altitude of about six meters, the statement said. "The bomb weighed approximately 18 kilograms," it said.

"Metal fragments of the explosive device have been found. Its type and the place where [the bomb] was planted prove that the act of sabotage was staged by a team of professionals," the ministry said.

The explosion temporarily disrupted motor traffic between Luhansk and Krasnyi Luch and rail traffic between Shterovka and Petrovenky, it said.
