KYIV. May 25 (Interfax) - The number of Stugna anti-tank guided missile systems (ATGMs) on the contact line in Donbas will be increased, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said.
"I personally checked the level of the provision of our brigades on the front line with anti-tank weapons - modern, next-generation Stugna missiles. I ordered increasing the equipment of brigades with Stugna missile systems on the contact line in the near future," Poroshenko said at a meeting on the construction of housing for servicemen in the Lviv region on Thursday.
All tests of Stugna systems have been extremely successful, he said. "I was personally present at all tests and did not see a single time when Stugna did not hit its target from the maximum distance," Poroshenko said.
The Stugna-P was developed by the Luch Design Bureau. ATGMs are designed to hit tanks and other armored targets, including those equipped with advanced defenses, as well as hovering helicopters, at distances of up to four kilometers, with armor penetration of up to 800mm.
