MOSCOW. June 6 (Interfax-AVN) - The 4th Air Force and Air Defense Army, the Black Sea Fleet, and all-arms formations have begun joint exercises in Crimea, the press service of the Russian Black Sea Fleet told Interfax-AVN on Wednesday.
"The drills involve about 6,000 servicemen and nearly 100 aircraft," the press service said.
The Black Sea Fleet's reconnaissance planes have detected an attack naval group of the simulated enemy preparing for "a massive missile strike on strategic sites in the Republic of Crimea," the press service said.
"Crews of the Black Sea Fleet's reconnaissance planes successfully accomplished the mission and transmitted precise coordinates of ships of the simulated enemy to the control post supervising reconnaissance and attacks," the press service said.
Southern Military District Commander Col. Gen. Alexander Dvornikov is in charge of the exercises, which started on Tuesday.
