Western information campaigns followed by use of force are dangerous tendency - head of CIS Executive Committee

KYZYL (Tuva). June 6 (Interfax-AVN) - Western countries are increasingly using force to promote their military and political interests in various regions of the world under the cover of information campaigns, Sergei Lebedev, the head of the CIS Executive Committee, said.

"The world is now going through difficult times. The situation in international relations has, unfortunately, deteriorated, which cannot help but concern us all. The dangerous tendencies of the past few years include massive and crude information campaigns conducted by Western countries on far-fetched pretexts and subsequent use of force to secure their military and political interests," Lebedev said at a session of the CIS Defense Ministers Council on Wednesday.

As an example, he mentioned "the use of chemical weapons in Syria's Douma and, consequently, the missile strikes launched on Syria."
