VLADIVOSTOK. June 6 (Interfax) - A group of Russian Pacific Fleet warships consisting of two large landing ships, the Admiral Tributs and Admiral Vinogradov, and the Pechenga medium-sized sea tanker, has finished its business call at the Vietnamese port of Cam Ranh, where it had been since Sunday, the Eastern Military District said in a statement on Wednesday.
"At the port, the ceremony of seeing off the group was attended by representatives of the Vietnamese Defense Ministry and the regional command of the People's Navy, in addition to Russian diplomats from the Russian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City," the statement said.
During the visit, Pacific Fleet officers attended a formal meeting with regional navy commanders. At Cam Ranh, the Russian and Vietnamese sailors held a mini-football match. Bus tours to local historical sites were organized.
After leaving the port, the Russian ships and ships from the 4th Regional Command of the Vietnamese Navy will hold a joint exercise involving organizing communications, a joint tactical maneuver, and search-and-rescue at sea.
