VLADIVOSTOK. June 9 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that his possible meeting with United States President Donald Trump would be advisable and useful, but the question is whether the domestic political situation in the U.S. would allow such a meeting to happen.
"You know that it was discussed from the very beginning, after the election of Mr. Trump as president of the United States. And we replied from the very beginning that we see such face-to-face meetings as advisable and not only possible," Putin told the "News on Saturday" TV program.
Putin said that Trump and he have already met on different international platforms, "but certainly it does not give an opportunity to give the required and due attention to Russian-American relations."
"On the whole, I think that such a meeting will be useful. The only question is whether the domestic political situation in the United States will allow it to happen," he said.
