KYIV. June 15 (Interfax) - Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada Human Rights Commissioner Liudmyla Denisova, who was denied a visit to Oleh Sentsov in a Russian colony, says she will insist on access to him or a video conference.
Denisova, who has arrived in the settlement of Labytnangi, said by phone on 112.Ukraine television on Friday that the head of the penal colony said Sentsov was a Russian citizen and Ukrainian officials had no right to meet with him.
"I think no one will allow us to visit him today, they will not allow my meeting with Sentsov," Denisova said.
Denisova said the head of the penal colony had declined to give any information on Sentsov's health.
"We will continue insisting that they grant us access to Sentsov in the near future or provide information confirming that he is fine, that he is not in any crisis, that he is doing well. And when they say we can do a video conference, let's do a video conference," Denisova said.
