Ukrainian, Russian human rights commissioners meeting in Moscow

MOSCOW. June 18 (Interfax) - Russia's human rights commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova has begun a meeting with her Ukrainian counterpart Liudmyla Denisova.

Denisova has arrived at the ombudsman's office in Myasnitskaya street in Moscow. The meeting to discuss a roadmap for visiting convicted Russians in Ukraine and Ukrainians jailed in Russia is taking place behind closed doors, an Interfax correspondent reported.

The visits were agreed on during a telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart Petro Poroshenko, at the latter's request, the Kremlin said on June 9.

Moskalkova said earlier that the ombudsmen were expecting to visit 34 fellow citizens jailed in each other's countries.

The Russian ombudsman is planning to visit Ria Novosti Ukraine chief Kirill Vyshinsky, Volunteers of Freedom activist Yelena Odnovol, Alexander Baranov and Maxim Odinstov among others.

Denisova asked her counterpart to help arrange her visits of Oleh Sentsov, Stanyslav Klykh, Mykola Karpiuk, Dmytro Shtyblikov, Roman Sushchenko and Oleksandr Kolchenko among others.

She refused to come for the first visit last Saturday to an Omsk prison, where Shtyblikov, a dual national, is serving his sentence. Moskalkova visited him by herself
