MOSCOW. June 25 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin, who met with Moldovan Ambassador Andrei Neguta in Moscow, has denounced the UN General Assembly's resolution on the withdrawal of Russian troops from Transdniestria.
"The Russian side again stressed the destructive nature of the resolution put forward by Chisinau and adopted by the UN General Assembly on June 22, regarding the full and unconditional withdrawal of foreign troops from the Republic of Moldova, and its inevitable complicating effect on the Transdniestrian settlement process," a statement on the Russian Foreign Ministry's website said.
"The ambassador was also told that the unfriendly step undertaken by the government of Moldova, despite there being no political consensus within Chisinau on this matter, will cast a cloud over Russian-Moldovan relations. It clearly belies the stated desire to develop them," the statement said.
