Donbas combatants agree on ceasefire from July 1 - Gryzlov (Part 2)

MINSK. June 27 (Interfax) - The Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) on Donbas has announced a ceasefire starting from July 1 in view of the upcoming harvesting campaign, Boris Gryzlov, Russia's representative in the TCG, told reporters.

"At today's meeting the TCG approved a statement on a ceasefire in relation to the start of a harvesting campaign. The conflicting parties reaffirmed their full commitment to a comprehensive, sustainable, indefinite ceasefire beginning at 00:01 a.m. Kyiv time July 1, 2018," Gryzlov said.

The statement stresses the importance of providing peace and calm for civilians in the conflict zone and reaffirms a full and firm commitment to the full implementation of the Minsk accords, Gryzlov said.

The TCG also discussed disengagement in Stanytsia Luhanska, he said.

"Subsequent progress depends directly on Ukraine's consent to remove weapons and forces. The LPR [Luhansk People's Republic] has confirmed its readiness to honor this commitment in that area. The OSCE SMM has repeatedly observed [LPR] complying with the necessary conditions, in accordance with the signed documents. Yet the disengagement never happened. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are constantly derailing this process under false pretexts," Gryzlov said.
