BAKU. July 2 (Interfax) - The Azerbaijani Armed Forces will hold exercises involving various branches, services, special forces, military units, and formations on July 2-6, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said in a statement.
"The exercises will engage up to 20,000 servicemen, 120 tanks and other types of armored vehicles, more than 200 artillery and missile systems of various calibers, rocket launchers, and mortars, and up to 30 army and frontline aircraft," the ministry said.
The servicemen "will practice a variety of missions," the ministry said. "For instance, they will practice missile and artillery attacks and bombardments by precision-guided systems, aircraft, and drones, as well as a major offensive aimed at freeing an occupied territory," it said.
The exercises will take place on mountainous cross-country terrain amid electric countermeasures and feature tactical interaction between formations and military units, control of troops and weapon systems, and deterrence of sabotage operations by the simulated enemy," the ministry said.
"There will be live-fire drills on several ranges using advanced weapons and military hardware procured by the Azerbaijani army," it said.
