Suspected killers of police in Ganja protests identified

BAKU. July 11 (Interfax) - The Azerbaijani law enforcement authorities have established the identities of two persons suspected of killing police officers during the July 10 protests in Ganja.

The Prosecutor General's Office, the Interior Ministry, and the State Security Service made a joint statement identifying them as ex-convict Rashad Boyukkishiyev and Farrukh Hasymov, both born in 1988.

"Intensive measures to apprehend them are currently underway," the statement said.

Two police officers - Ganja deputy police chief Col. Ilgar Balakishiyev and Nizami district deputy police chief Lt. Col. Samed Abbasov - died trying to stop illegal protests in the second largest city of Azerbaijan, Ganja, on Tuesday evening.
