Israel shoots down Syrian fighter jet

JERUSALEM. July 24 (Interfax) - The Israeli military employed their air defense system on Tuesday to intercept a Syrian Sukhoi fighter jet after it crossed into Israel's airspace, the Israeli Defense Force said in a statement.

"Two Patriot missiles were launched at a Syrian Sukhoi fighter jet that infiltrated about 1 mile into Israeli airspace. The IDF [Israel Defense Forces] monitored the fighter jet, which was then intercepted by the Patriot missiles," the Israeli military wrote on Twitter.
