Investigation Control Center head doubts Russian journalists were interrogated before killed in Central Africa

MOSCOW. Aug 2 (Interfax) - The Investigation Control Center (ICC) that arranged the trip of three Russian journalists to the Central African Republic (CAR) has no confirmation that the film crew was abducted and interrogated before they were murdered, ICC head Andrei Konyakhin told Interfax on Wednesday.

"We have no such information. Local journalists are not quite trustworthy," Konyakhin said.

The Central African media outlet Palmares Centrafrique said with reference to its sources that the three Russian journalists were abducted and interrogated.

The media outlet identified the abductors as followers of Noureddine Adam, a leader of the Islamic insurgent movement Seleka, who are in control of the Dekoa area situated halfway between Sibiu and Kaga-Bandoro where the Russians were killed.

As reported on Wednesday, Russian journalist Orkhan Dzhemal, documentary maker Alexander Rastorguyev, and cameraman Kirill Radchenko were killed in an attack while making a film about private military companies in the Central African Republic.
