ASTANA. Aug 8 (Interfax-AVN) - The Kazakh peacekeeping battalion KAZBAT is taking part in the Steppe Eagle 2018 special tactical peacekeeping drills, which are starting at the McCrady Training Center in South Carolina, the press service of the Kazakh Defense Ministry said.
According to the information released on Tuesday, the primary objective of the drills is to train peacekeeping missions under UN standards.
"Troops of the United Kingdom, Kazakhstan, the United States, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan will practice organizing unit management and interaction between international contingents and conducting headquarters procedures used at multinational headquarters," the statement said.
The yearly Steppe Eagle drills, which involve international experts and military observers and military diplomatic officers, were first held in 2003 and have been held as part of the Partnership for Peace program since 2012. They will end on August 23.
