NEW YORK. Aug 8 (Interfax) - Employees of the Russian consulate general in New York have met with Russian citizen Maxim Suverin, who was detained by the FBI; his health is satisfactory, the consulate said in a statement.

"Diplomats of the consulate general visited Russian citizen Maxim Suverin, who was detained by the FBI, at the detention center in New York on August 7. Suverin "did not complain about a biased attitude of the prison personnel or inmates," the consulate said.

"The possibility of making telephone calls has not been provided so far," it said.

According to the Russian diplomats, they are planning to meet with the lawyer of the detained Russian citizen soon enough.

The Russian consulate general in New York said on Monday that the FBI detained four Russian citizens in early August on counts of money laundering and fraud. One of the Russians "was apprehended in Boston and transferred to New York City, while two are being held in Los Angeles, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons. We are working to establish the whereabouts of the fourth person," the consulate said.

Later on Monday consulate press secretary Alexei Topolsky said they had asked the FBI for consular access to the detained Russian citizens.
