MOSCOW. Aug 8 (Interfax-AVN) - The Kobra 1600 robotic system, which was designed for remotely defusing explosive devices, has been supplied to an engineering brigade of the Central Military District under a state defense order.
"The Kobra 1600 is meant for visual reconnaissance and searching for and performing primary diagnostics on suspicious objects by means of television cameras and detachable equipment," the district's press service said in a statement.
The system has special containers for evacuating defused explosive devices.
"The robot can also be used for technological operations, providing access to potentially dangerous sites," the press service said.
It can be controlled by cable or radio for four to eight hours at a time. The tracked Kobra can cross barriers of up to 160 millimeters high and waters up to 120 millimeters deep, the press service said.
