LPR reports 5 attacks by Ukrainian army in past 24 hours

LUHANSK. Aug 9 (Interfax-AVN) - The Ukrainian Armed Forces have committed five ceasefire violations in Donbas in the past 24 hours, the militia of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) told Interfax on Thursday.

"The Ukrainian Armed Forces have breached the truce five times over the past 24 hours, using 120mm and 82mm mortars, infantry fighting vehicles, AGS, SPG and RPG grenade launchers, large-caliber weapons, and small arms," the militia said.

It said the Ukrainian army attacked positions near the populated localities of Lozove, Pryshyb, Frunze, and Zhelobok.

"No destruction or damage was caused to civilian infrastructure. There were no casualties among the civilian population. Militia casualties are being verified," the militia said.

A representative of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) told reporters that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had violated the truce eight times.

"The Ukrainian Armed Forces have committed a total of eight truce violations over the past 24 hours, attacking the following districts and populated localities: Horlivka (Gagarin mine), Verkhnetoretske Nizhne, Vasylivka, Leninske, Kominternove, Trudovske, and Staromykhailivka," the representative said.

There were no civilian casualties, and no houses and infrastructure were damaged, the representative said.

Kyiv, in turn, reported that one Ukrainian serviceman had been killed and another four wounded in Donbas. According to the Luhansk region's military-civilian administration, militia forces fired an anti-tank missile system at a Ukrainian army vehicle on Wednesday evening, killing one soldier and wounding four others.

The open-ended "bread truce" took effect on midnight on July 1 under an agreement reached by the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine in Minsk.
