LUHANSK. Aug 9 (Interfax) - A militiaman of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) was wounded in a mortar attack launched by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, LPR militia spokesman Andrei Marochko told reporters on Thursday.
"One serviceman was wounded while defending the republic as a result of a mortar strike carried out by the Ukrainian Armed Forces," Marochko said.
The wounded militiaman received the necessary medical care, he said.
The situation in the area of the LPR militia's engagement has worsened, Marochko said.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have committed five ceasefire violations there in the past 24 hours, he said.
"In all, more than 80 various pieces of ammunition have been fired on the republic," he said.
