ROSTOV-ON-DON. Aug 10 (Interfax-AVN) - Twenty divisions of Russia's Southern Military District received nearly 50 units of state-of-the-art military hardware in July 2018, the military district's press service told Interfax.
"Two artillery battalions have fully switched to new models. The district's motorized rifle and artillery units have received around thirty 2S19M2 Msta-SM and 2S19M1 Msta-S self-propelled howitzers," the press service quoted Southern Military District commander Alexander Dvornikov as saying.
In July, the military district's forces also received drones, advanced electronic warfare systems, and specialized hardware intended for military engineers, logistics units, and radiation, chemical, and biological defense units, the commander said.
In all, more than 1,450 new and upgraded weapons and units of military and special-purpose hardware are expected to be delivered to the Armed Forces in 2018. The Southern Military District's provision with weapons and military hardware stands at 98%, of which advanced weapons account for 63%.
