AKTAU. Aug 13 (Interfax) - Russia is ready to meet with representatives of even those countries, which pursue an unfriendly policy with regards to it, including the United States, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"We have never avoided contacts, including with representatives of the countries, which pursue a clearly unfriendly policy with regards to us. This is why if the leaders feel the need to meet and return to the issues, which as we thought should unite Russia and the U.S., but instead cause irritation of some circles in the U.S., such a meeting may take place," Lavrov said, replying to journalists' question as to whether a bilateral meeting is still relevant in light of Washington's statements on sanctions.
"We are ready to develop such contacts at least at the level of the heads of the foreign ministers as well, if the U.S. side, of course, is ready to act on the basis of the balance of interests, on the basis of equality and consideration for each other's stances," the Russian foreign minister said.
