Some 1.7 mln Syrian refugees plan to return home from 9 countries - Refugee Reception Center

MOSCOW. Aug 13 (Interfax-AVN) - About 6.6 million Syrian refugees are currently staying in 27 states, according to the Russian Center for the Reception, Allocation, and Accommodation of Refugees.

"There is tentative information that 1,712,234 Syrians have expressed the wish to come home from nine countries," the center said on Saturday.

These countries are Lebanon (889,031 persons), Turkey (297,342), Germany (174,897), Jordan (149,268), Iraq (101,233), Egypt (99,834), Denmark (412), Brazil (149), and Austria (68).

Twenty-seven out of 45 countries that took in Syrian refugees have confirmed the Syrian refugee statistics provided by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. There are 6,638,413 Syrian refugees on their territories, the center said.

As many as 236,121 Syrian refugees, including 70,801 women and 120,253 children, have returned to the home country since September 30, 2015.
