TBILISI. Aug 14 (Interfax) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel will visit Georgia on August 23-24 as part of her trip to the region, Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani told reporters on Tuesday.
"The German chancellor's visit to Georgia is extremely important for us. This high-level visit reaffirms that Germany strongly supports Georgia's aspirations to integrate into the Euro-Atlantic space," he said.
Merkel's visits to countries of the South Caucasus are also important from the point of view of ongoing processes and challenges emerging in the region, Zalkaliani said.
