Putin, Merkel to discuss U.S. sanctions at meeting on Saturday - Peskov

MOSCOW. Aug 14 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel will discuss bilateral cooperation and international issues in Berlin on Saturday, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

While speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Peskov was asked what topics will be discussed at the talks and whether they will include potential new U.S. sanctions, Ukraine, and Syria.

"They will," Peskov said. "As concerns the subjects, this will include comparing notes on all crucial problems. This certainly includes international issues, Ukraine, Syria, restrictions that a lot of countries are facing one way or another, and implications of these restrictions. In addition, they will discuss aspects of bilateral trade and economic relations, the implementation of major international commercial projects, I mean Nord Stream 2, of course, and other matters," Peskov said.
