YEKATERINBURG. Aug 14 (Interfax-AVN) - The Mil Mi-8 MTV-5 helicopters from the Central Military District base in Sverdlovskaya region has practiced flying among clouds, the district said.
"According to the flying assignment, the pilots practiced the technique of piloting in clouds on ascent, descent and horizontally using flight navigation instruments. The altitude of flight among clouds was a maximum of 3,500 meters," a statement said.
Because flights are taking place in near-zero visibility and there is also a danger of spatial disorientation, the pilots are required to have confident skills at reading instruments, the spokesperson said.
The flights involve over ten helicopter crews.
