NOVOSIBIRSK. Aug 16 (Interfax) - Personnel of electronic warfare and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) divisions of the Russian Central Military District's motorized rifle unit, based in the Kemerovo region, have practiced joint efforts to detect a mock enemy during recent exercises, the military district's press service said.
They used an Orlan-10 UAV equipped with an electronic warfare system to track down a simulated militant camp.
"A UAV crew detected cellular network terminals used by an imaginary gang, and also established their quantity and location. These data helped receive precise information about the imaginary adversary's personnel and attack it, causing maximum damage," it said.
The drills were held as part of a field exercise involving over 1,200 servicemen and 200 units of military and special-purpose hardware of the Central Military District's electronic warfare divisions.
