Topol, Yars missile systems take part in combat patrol drills in Siberia

MOSCOW. Aug 17 (Interfax) -Topol and Yars ground-mobile missile system crews from the Russian Strategic Missile Forces' (RVSN) Irkutsk, Barnaul and Novosibirsk units are practicing conducting combat patrols during a tactical exercise, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"The missile systems crews will train bringing missile systems to field positions, installing their equipment, and also disguising and guarding them. They will also practice repelling simulated attacks by mock enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups and illegal armed units, including with the use of Taifun-M combat anti-sabotage vehicles equipped with drones," the Russian Defense Ministry's information department said.

During the drills, the participants are expected to practice steps to repel a mock enemy air attack and arrange interaction with assigned units, it said.

"The drills are continuing round-the-clock. They help assess the preparedness of personnel, weapons, and military hardware for long-term duty missions on combat patrol routes," it said.

More than 150 units of military and special-purpose hardware will take part in the drills.
