Lavrov hopes to reach agreement on Idlib with Turkey soon

MOSCOW. Aug 20 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov hopes that Moscow and Ankara will soon reach an agreement on separating the opposition from the Jabhat al-Nusra, a terrorist organization banned in Russia, which is operating in Syria's Idlib.

"We agreed with Minister Cavusoglu, when I was visiting Ankara several days ago, that the separation of armed units, which are ready to cooperate in settling the crisis, from al-Nusra is a priority," Lavrov said at the Monday press conference with Lebanese Foreign Minister Gerbil Bassil.

"Hopefully, we will not just continue this conversation but also come to terms in the coming days," Lavrov said.
