Russia won't deploy arms in space first, U.S. should take note - Ryabkov

MOSCOW. Aug 20 (Interfax) - Russia will not be the first to deploy arms in outer space, and this is an important signal that the United States should not ignore, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said.

"Despite the fact that not many share this approach, we will not put arms in outer space first. This is an important signal. I believe that it should not be ignored by anyone, including Washington," Ryabkov said in an interview with the journal International Affairs.

"I will tell you, however, that disregard for others' opinions on the part of today's America is simply skyrocketing, which is one of the big problems in international relations today. What is going on is an intensification of one-sided approaches, an increase in the international temperature due to toxins infused by the U.S.' foreign policy," Ryabkov said.
