MOSCOW. Aug 20 (Interfax-AVN) - A total of 36,000 servicemen of the Eastern Military District will take part in drills related to the material-technical support of troops, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Dmitry Bulgakov said.
"A total of 36,000 troops and 3,800 pieces of various kinds of military hardware will be involved in drills. The exercises will be very massive, very big. The drills will involve all the branches of troops, including such branches of the Armed Forces as the Air Force and the Navy," he said on the television channel Rossiya 24 (VGTRK) on Monday.
They will last a week, he said.
"This is scheduled training. The entire system, and the material-technical support system of the Eastern Military District with all of its major units, formations, and military units, including ones of the Pacific Fleet, will be involved," Bulgakov said.
The drills will start on August 20 ahead of the East strategic maneuvers, the Defense Ministry reported on its website last week.
