MOSCOW. Aug 21 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Helicopters Holding intends to continue modernizing ship-based Kamov Ka-27 helicopters for the Russian Navy, holding head Andrei Boginsky told Interfax.
"As of this moment, we have fulfilled a contract for maintenance and upgrade of 14 Kamov Ka-27 helicopters to Ka-27M. All those vehicles have been delivered to the client, and some of them have taken part in the Navy Day parade," Boginsky said.
"We are receiving good comments from the operator and plan to enter into a new contract for the maintenance and upgrade of another batch of helicopters," he said.
Boginsky told Interfax earlier that Russian Helicopters were ready to modernize about 25 anti-sub Kamov Ka-27 for the Navy by 2020.
"Of course, we are discussing these issues, but everything will depend on the opportunities provided by the state armament program. We are technically and technologically prepared," Boginsky said in response to Interfax's question about plans to deliver about 25 Ka-27M helicopters more to the Navy.
The Kumertau Aircraft Plant of the Russian Helicopters Holding, an affiliate of Rostec, will finalize the delivery of four Ka-27M helicopters under the current contract with the Russian Defense Ministry. "We are discussing prospects with the Navy," Boginsky said.
