Army 2018 int'l forum to open in Moscow region's Patriot Park

KUBINKA (Moscow region). Aug 21 (Interfax-AVN) - The Patriot Congress and Exhibition Park, outside Moscow, will host the 4th Army 2018 international military-technical forum and the National Security Week from August 21 to August 26.

"The forum will involve more than 1,500 Russian enterprises and organizations, including major developers and producers of weapons and military hardware, which will demonstrate over 20,000 samples," the Russian Defense Ministry's information department said.

"The Army 2018 international military-technical forum will traditionally become the largest platform where experts and all those who are interested in the defense industry, hardware, and science will be able to satisfy their interest," Russian Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov told Interfax in an interview.

Samples of military hardware that are already used by the Russian Armed Forces and also new developments will be on display there, he said.

"All of them deserve attention, but I personally would note the most interesting ones such as the BT-3F armored personnel carrier, which is intended for marines operations, the BMD-4D airborne assault vehicle equipped with the new combat module Sinitsa, the 2S25M Sprut-SDM1 self-propelled anti-tank cannon, the 9K333 Verba portable anti-aircraft missile system, which can engage aerial targets at a distance of more than six kilometers and at an altitude of over four kilometers, and also the 2S38 combat vehicle from a prospective self-propelled anti-aircraft artillery complex," the minister said.

Life-size exhibits to be displayed as part of the show's static exposition will include a wide range of air defense systems, armored vehicles, aircraft, and engineer equipment, he said.

For his part, Rosoboronexport head Alexander Mikheyev told reporters that talks with representatives of more than 50 countries would be held on the sidelines of the ARMY-2018 forum.
