Prototype of 2nd-generation Tigr special vehicle to be built by yearend - designer

MOSCOW. Aug 21 (Interfax-AVN) - The new Tigr-2 special vehicle will be bigger and safer than its predecessor, and its design will change, Military Industrial Company General Director Alexander Krasovitsky told Interfax.

"We plan to build the vehicle's prototype by the end of this year. The work on the next-generation Tigr has been on schedule," Krasovitsky said.

Project Atlet, which will yield the Tigr-2 vehicle, is being funded by the Defense Ministry, which implies strict supervision and fines for failing to meet the deadlines, he said.

"Of course, the vehicle's design will change. The new Tigr will look different. We are enlarging the size of armor and raising protection levels. All these adjustments will certainly change the way the vehicle looks," Krasovitsky said.
