T-90M Proryv tanks to be delivered to Russian army next year - Uralvagonzavod

KUBINKA (Moscow region). Aug 21 (Interfax-AVN) - The delivery of brand new T-90M Proryv tanks to the Russian army will begin in 2019, the press service of Rostec's Uralvagonzavod told Interfax on Tuesday.

"A contract for supplying a batch of those vehicles was signed between Uralvagonzavod and the Defense Ministry on the sidelines of the Army 2017 forum and exhibition. The deliveries will begin in 2019," the press service said.

Uralvagonzavod is currently demonstrating T-90M Proryv at the Army 2018 military industrial forum at the Russian Defense Ministry's Patriot Park in the Moscow region.

T-90M is the product of R&D Project Proryv-3. This is a profoundly modernized modification of the T-90 tank with better combat and performance characteristics.

"The combat efficiency of the T-90M is much better than that of its predecessor, and the modular structure of the tank enables further improvement of its features during next modernizations," the press service said.

"T-90M is superior to serial products and equal to prospective foreign tanks by its performance characteristics," it said.

T-90M has a new combat turret module featuring a 125mm cannon with better survivability and precision. The vehicle is armed with a 12.7mm precision-guided machinegun and carries a highly automated digital fire control system which detects, identifies, locks and destroys targets.
