Armata tank equipped with 'black box'

KUBINKA (Moscow region). Aug 21 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia's newest T-14 Armata tank has been equipped with a "black box," the press service of Rostec's Uralvagonzavod told Interfax on Tuesday.

"The integrated automatic diagnostic unit controls the tank's systems and stores data in the 'black box' regime. The data is displayed on the console," the press service said.

Uralvagonzavod is demonstrating the Armata tank and other armored vehicles mounted on the same-name platform at the Army 2018 military-industrial forum in the Moscow region.

The tank, the combat infantry vehicle, and the armored recovery vehicle mounted on the heavy tracked Armata platform are undergoing trials.

The T-14 was designed for engaging the enemy, supporting motorized infantry units on the offensive, and destroying heavily armored targets, fortifications, and soft targets in shelters and in the open. The crew is seated in an armored capsule, which raises its chance to survive the damage done to fuel and ammunition compartments.
