SOCHI. Aug 21 (Interfax) - Russia is maintaining contacts with the United States on the situation in Syria and the situation in Ukraine, Russian presidential aide Vladislav Surkov and U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker may hold their next meeting soon, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Tuesday.
"We're maintaining contacts with the U.S. on many issues, including on Syria, Ukraine. The dialogue on Ukraine in the Volker-Surkov format is more intensive. They exchange evaluations of the situation and, as I understand it, are planning a meeting in the near future," Lavrov said, replying to an Interfax question, at a press conference following talks with his Serbian counterpart.
