MOSCOW. Aug 21 (Interfax) - The Russian Foreign Ministry has denied Afghan Ambassador to Russia Abdul Kochai's claim that Moscow is planning to use the Taliban to fight ISIL (banned in Russia) in Afghanistan.
"We have taken note of the recent statement by Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Moscow Abdul Kochai alleging that the Russian Federation is planning to use the Taliban against ISIL in Afghanistan. We would like to say with all firmness that the statement by the chief of the Afghan diplomatic mission in Moscow does not correspond to reality and fully distorts the essence of the Russian Federation's policy on the Afghan track," the ministry said in a statement circulated on Tuesday.
