Russian pilot Yaroshenko's wife gets permission to visit him in U.S. jail - ombudsman

MOSCOW. Aug 21 (Interfax) - The United States authorities have granted permission for the wife of Russian pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko to visit him in a U.S. prison, Russian ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova said.

"His wife received permission today, she is going there," Moskalkova said at a press conference on Tuesday.

She said she was still waiting for a response to her own request to visit Yaroshenko and other Russian prisoners in the U.S.

It was reported earlier that Moskalkova had asked U.S. Ambassador to Russia Jon Huntsman to help Yaroshenko's wife receive permission for conjugal visits. Moskalkova also asked Huntsman to help her visit Russian prisoners in the U.S.

Konstantin Yaroshenko was arrested in Liberia on charges of preparing to transport a large amount of cocaine on May 28, 2010, and then deported to the U.S. On September 7, 2011, a U.S. court sentenced him to 20 years in prison.
