Russia says U.S. unwilling to help in Afghanistan settlement

MOSCOW. Aug 22 (Interfax) - The Russian Foreign Ministry has described the United States' decision not to take part in the meeting on Afghanistan in Moscow as unwillingness to assist in the Afghan peace process.

"The primary objective of the Moscow Format is the collective effort of participating countries toward launching the national reconciliation process as soon as possible and ending the fratricidal war in Afghanistan. The refusal to contribute to those efforts proves that Washington is pursuing totally different interests," the ministry said on Wednesday.
