Some 2,000 tonnes of various cargo delivered to Syria from Russia daily - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. Aug 22 (Interfax-AVN) - Some 95,000 people and over 5,500 weapons and pieces of combat equipment have been delivered to Syria since the start of the military campaign, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"There have been 424 deliveries by sea and 2,785 deliveries by air transport to ensure the activities of the group of troops (forces). A total of 3,250 people, 4,501 weapons and pieces of military hardware, and 1.55 million tonnes of cargo have been delivered by sea, 91,285, more than 1,000 weapons and pieces of military hardware and 55,846 tonnes of cargo have been delivered by air," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a video posted on its website on Wednesday.

On average 2,000 tonnes of various cargo is delivered to Syria by air and sea transport daily, the report said.

Russia began its military campaign in Syria on September 30, 2015.
