Lavrov, Saudi FM to discuss Syria, Yemen, Libya (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Aug 23 (Interfax) - The foreign ministers of Russia and Saudi Arabia, Sergei Lavrov and Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir, will discuss the situation in Syria, Yemen, and Libya within the framework of the Week of Russian Culture in Saudi Arabia, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.

"They will discuss the situation in Syria, Yemen, Libya, and the Gulf, as well as the Palestinian-Israeli peace process. Another subject of the talks between the two foreign ministers will be the prospects of cooperation in the framework of the strategic dialogue of the Russia-Gulf [Cooperation Council] headquartered in the Saudi capital," Zakharova said.

Humanitarian contacts between the two countries will be definitely given a boost by the Week of Russian Culture in Saudi Arabia this fall, she said.

"There will be a detailed exchange of opinions on the current situation in the Middle East and North Africa, with an emphasis on the need to resolve conflicts in this strategic part of the world using political and diplomatic methods in a dialogue based on mutual respect and taking into account the interests and concerns of every party involved," Zakharova said.
